About Us
Bad Axe business owners and lifelong Huron County residents, Millard (Bill) and Beatrice Deering, recognized the need for apartment housing in Bad Axe and began construction on Outer Drive Apartments in 1967. In 2014 they both retired and passed the operational and administrative duties onto their son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Pam Deering.
Millard (Bill) passed away in July of 2018 and Beatrice in November of 2019. The apartments were purchased by Bryan and Pam in January of 2020.
There have been many improvements since 2014, including new driveways, sidewalks, asphalt, windows, doors, a new carport, and an individual private fenced-in patio area per apartment (Building 3 only). Apartments are being renovated and updated with ceramic tile floors in the kitchen and bathroom. And as always, tenants are provided with a prompt response to any concerns, complaints, or maintenance requests.
Building 1 was constructed in 1967, Building 2 in 1968. The buildings are two-stories providing four 2-bedroom apartments and two 1-bedroom apartments in each building.
The basement of Building 1 houses a coin-operated laundry room, and the basement of Building 2 contains 24 lockable storage cages (one for each apartment - you provide the lock).
There are non-locking storage rooms in the basement of each building for use by all tenants.
Building 3 was built in 1983. It is a one-story building that consists of twelve 2-bedroom apartments.
The coin-operated laundry room, with 2 washers and 2 dryers, is located in the center of the building for use by tenants in Building 3.
There is no basement storage. (Storage is located in the basements of Building 1 and 2.)
